Enrolments

Enrolments

Introduction
In the interests of fairness and justice, the following ‘Enrolment Criteria and Procedure’ overview is adopted by St Mark’s.

Criteria
The following criteria shall essentially be observed when offering an enrolment at St Mark’s:

1. Children of active communicant members of St Mark’s Lutheran Church
2. Families with siblings currently enrolled at St Mark’s Lutheran School
3. Children of other active communicant members of the Lutheran Church
4. Special circumstances as deemed by the Principal
5. Date of application

Reception Intake
St Mark’s has a one intake policy at the beginning of the school year. This requires the child to turn 5 years of age before 31st May in the year they commence Reception.

Procedure
1. Lodgement of the ‘Enrolment Application’ with the stipulated application fee. The application form does not guarantee a placement.
2. Interview of the child’s parents by the school Principal, preferably with the child in attendance.
3. Principal offers enrolment placements based on the ‘Criteria’ stated above.
4. The child’s parents complete a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment’ form, and forward it to the school with the stipulated fee of $150.00. Once this payment is made, the placement is secured and guaranteed by the school. The fee will be deducted from the first tuition fee charged on the child’s commencement at St Mark’s.
5. Parents will be notified by letter of the time period by which they need to respond to the placement offer.
6. Failure to meet the stipulated time will result in the offer of enrolment lapsing, however, the application will remain on the school’s database.

Fee Information
St Mark’s is always mindful of the capacity of a wide range of parents to pay school fees. Therefore, the governing School Council, when setting fees, makes every endeavour to make them affordable.

To assist families who may need financial assistance, the School offers a very generous Bursary (fee remission) program. Applications for a Bursary are called for in the first term of each year.

In addition, families can apply for a fee remission through the School Card Scheme.

Details pertaining to these financial assistance schemes, are available through the Business Manager or Principal.
